
BRVM falls 0.99%, dragged by utilities down 4.79%
The BRVM Composite fell 0.99% to 401.6 points on May 5, while the BRVM Composite Total Return lost 0.84% to 155.05 points and the BRVM-30 slipped 0.93% to 189.4 points. The decline was led by utilities, down 4.79% to 143.82 points, followed by consumer discretionary at -4.07% and energy at -2.15%, while industrials limited losses to 0.02% at 184.77 points. On earnings, SITAB reported 2025 profit of CFA36 billion, down 18% year on year, according to Sika Finance. In financials, Oragroup posted a 37% rise in profit despite lower revenue, as cost control supported performance, Dabafinance reported.

In banking, Ecobank has extended its rerating with a 50% gain since mid-April, according to Sika Finance, while Coris Bank International has created its Cameroon unit and is still awaiting regulatory approval, Financial Afrik reports.
