ATB leads a session where banks did the heavy lifting
The clearest signal from the Tunis stock exchange today came from ATB, which jumped 5.9% to 3.39 TND, the best performance on the board, even as market breadth stayed negative with 22 gainers, 27 losers and 26 unchanged. That move mattered more than the raw breadth numbers suggest because it was part of a broader financial-sector rally that lifted the TUNINDEX by 0.50% to 18,779.57 points on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
The session’s engine was clearly sectoral. The Banking Index rose 1.29%, the Financial Services Index added 1.09%, and the TUNINDEX20 gained 0.48% to 8,222.02 points. In Tunisia, where banks carry significant index weight, a coordinated rise in a handful of financial names can offset weakness across much of the rest of the market, and that is exactly what happened.
