
TUNINDEX drops 3.47% as banks slide 4.75%
The TUNINDEX fell 3.47% to 19,739.81 points on July 28, while the TUNINDEX20 lost 3.69% to 8,684.95 and the banking index dropped 4.75% to 14,811.36. Financials led the selloff, with the sector index down 4.4% to 16,051.91, while basic materials limited losses to 2.17% at 9,037.46. On stocks, Office Plast rose 1.8% despite the broader decline after its planned capital increase, according to an analyst note published on July 28, while Cellcom had gained 4% on July 27 even as the TUNINDEX was down 1.90%. On earnings, Carthage Cement reported a 6% revenue decline at end-June, but a recovery started in the second quarter with cumulative local revenue stable at TND 128 million, according to Tustex, African Manager and Leconomiste Maghrebin; SOTUVER, for its part, was boosted in the first half by demand for olive oil packaging, Tustex reported.
