JSE slips 0.6% as mining headlines dominate

Newsflow was led by miners, with Valterra beating half-year earnings on stronger platinum prices, according to Miningmx, while Sibanye-Stillwater completed a $500 million senior notes offering, reports Global Legal Chronicle. Nedbank CIB also backed the Geita gold mine with $714 million in financing, according to Mining.com.au and Polity.org.za. In financials, Absa Group has lost more than $1.34 billion in market capitalization since the start of 2026, according to Financial Afrik.
