
NGX ASI drops 1.21% despite three strong first-quarter profit gains
The NGX ASI fell 1.2092% to 1,633.23 on April 24, despite 3 gainers hitting 10% and MTNN turnover of NGN 8.2 billion, according to an analyst bulletin. On earnings, BUA Cement reported Q1 2026 profit of NGN 193 billion, supported by strong sales and interest income, according to Nairametrics. Nigerian Breweries posted a 26% rise in quarterly profit on higher revenue and lower finance costs, Premium Times Nigeria reported. Stanbic IBTC Holdings said Q1 2026 profit rose 42% to NGN 165.4 billion, according to westernpost.ng.
