
TUNINDEX drops 1.87% as UNIMED and Carthage Cement weigh on sentiment
The TUNINDEX closed down 1.87% at 16,962.81 points on May 21, while the TUNINDEX20 fell 1.89% to 7,488.74 points. The selloff hit financials, with the banking index down 2.41% at 12,278.59 points and the financial services index off 1.39% at 23,990.68 points. Domestic-demand sectors also weakened, as the distribution index lost 2.14% to 10,697.65 points and the food and beverages index fell 1.58% to 17,914.25 points, while the basic materials index posted the steepest sector drop at 3.03% to 8,021.43 points. On earnings, UNIMED reported 148.9 million dinars in revenue and 16.8 million dinars in 2025 profit, but earnings remained under pressure according to La Presse de Tunisie and Tustex, while Carthage Cement's 2025 profit fell to 40.1 million dinars, La Presse de Tunisie reported.

TUNINDEX slips 0.19% as SOTUVER tender offer opens at 13.390 dinars
The TUNINDEX fell 0.19% to 20,118.58 on August 6, while the TUNINDEX20 lost 0.28% to 8,852.03, with financial services down 1.21% leading the decline. Distribution and consumer services capped losses with gains of 1.27% each, while the industrials index dropped 0.66% and building and construction materials slipped 0.48%. On the stock side, Smart Tunisie jumped 6% on August 6, after Wifack International Bank rose 4.4% on August 5, according to market notes. Separately, the mandatory tender offer for SOTUVER at 13.390 dinars opened on August 5 and trading was suspended, reports Tustex, after Webmanagercenter said the deal organizes joint control between B.A Glass and the Bayahi group. Webmanagercenter added that SOTUVER’s H1 2026 results were reshaped by a 143% rise in the local olive oil market.
